The Maratha Mandal’s arts & Commerce
College provides instruction in Humanities and
Social Science covering the three year
integrated courses of Bachelor of Arts and
Bachelor of Commerce Degress of the
Karnataka University. The medium of institution is
English and Kannada.
The College regards it self as an academic community where scholars
both students and
teachers have the freedom and responsibility
to communicate evaluate and enlarge
mankind’s store of knowledge. It stands
for academic excellence and endeavors to create
an environment which generates love
of learning, habits of critical thought and effective
communication. It hereby aims to equip
the students with an intellectual, mental and
moral outlook that will make them worthy
members of society.
The college has qualified
teaching faculty, with several scholars. Its students have consistently
fared weel in University examination. A number of prizes and government
scholarship freeships and fee concessions are available to students
from backward groups.

The Library is one of the finest that any rural College Campus can hope
to have housed in an first in an floor of College building. It caters
to the needs of students and staff of this college. The library building
has been so designed as to get natural sunlight. The large Reading Hall
has a high ceiling and large windows that allow illumination and ventilation
to take the strain out long of hours of study. A section of Reading
Room caters news papers and periodicals.
The Library boasts of a large collection of over 13 thousand books in
all major disciplines in the Arts & Commerce. The Library remains
open from 9-00 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all working days except Saturday when
it closes at 2.00 noon. The Library staff is always to help students
and staff. Computerisation of the Library is under way to further improve
its services. A separate wing is established in the library to lend
the additional books to the students of SC/ST. At the request of the
Students the Library will be kept open even after the office hours.
The Book Bank
It was introduced with the co-operation on public, staff and students.
It contains of over 500 books. Every year under this scheme 4 books
are issued to poor and deserving students for a period of one year.
Our Gymkhana Hall is spacious enough to have a table tennis, arrangements
for Carum and Chess and other indoor games are also available at the
India is on the way of becoming a world super power in information Technology.
Realising this Karnataka University, Dharwad has introduced computer
application as one compulsory subject to the B.Com. Students and computer
Application paper to the Students of B.A.IV Semester. To support this
course, our Mandal has established Computer Lab. At present the lab
is having ’22 –Computer systems along with necessary printers.
Our Computer lab also contains a Zerox Machine to help the administration
and to help the students. An internet facility is available to Staff
Discipline & Social Services are necessary qualities of good citizen.
The NSS helps to inculcate these qualities in students. Our College
NSS Unit can enrool 100 students per year. N.S.S. Unit arranges 10 days
N.S.S. Camp at Village level. N.S.S. Camp helps ourstudents
to develop the leadership qualities and so it serves for the rural society.
In order to encourage literary efforts by the students, they are encouraged
to prepare wall papers with the help of language teachers.
We have a proprsal of bringing college Magazine for the year 2006-2007
with the help of students, staff and public.
All students will have to undergo a Medical Check-up and blood checkup
to be arranged by the College on a date notified later.
Karnatak State Open University Mysore Study Centre
Our degree Colleg provides infrastructure for and manages the study
Centre of karnatak State Open University Mysore. This is an extremely
useful arrangement for working people and housewives. The regular students
of this college may study simultaneously the diploma courses of K.S.O.U.
A well organized past students association is functioning effectively
for the over all development and welfare of our College.
Apart from these facilities the college has established the other cells
like SC/ST cell: Teachers cell: career guidance cell.
